The Research Integrity Office was created in 2014 to provide the university with robust resources devoted to not only research misconduct case adjudication, but also the proactive education and prevention of research misconduct. By housing the educational resources, RCR coordination, and case management under one office within the Office of Research Compliance, we can leverage our existing resources and relationships to best serve the mission of compliance and research integrity at Indiana University.
Since 2012, Shelley Bizila has been the Research Integrity Officer for all campuses of Indiana University. At that time, the Clinical Research Compliance Office, of which Shelley was the Director, handled all matters of research misconduct and the REEP office oversaw the RCR educational series. IU’s Office of Research Compliance has since decided combining these two areas, while reorganizing the other components of the Clinical Research Compliance Office was the ideal step to facilitate the strongest and most proactive approach to research integrity at IU.
