Throughout Research Career at IU

  • Annual Laboratory Safety Surveys will be scheduled by Laboratory Safety staff members.
  • Correct any violations discovered during Laboratory Safety Surveys as soon as possible, but within 30 days.
  • Ensure all new laboratory personnel have taken the applicable training outlined above.
  • Ensure all laboratory personnel have been trained on laboratory specific equipment, chemicals and Standard Operating Procedures.  Ensure all training is documented.
  • Contact the IUPUI Laboratory Safety Manager if you have plans to vacate the laboratory or acquire additional laboratory space.
  • Keep information on laboratory signage and emergency contact information in IU Notify updated.
  • Keep an inventory of hazardous chemicals and make it available to IUPUI Laboratory Safety staff.
  • Ensure all hazardous chemical waste is manifested for proper disposal. See the Environmental Management Waste Disposal Manifest Form page.
  • Follow all laboratory safety policies and practices outlined in the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
